MI Film Office has $58M in incentives

LANSING, Mich. (AP) - The Michigan Film Office has $58 million in incentives available for qualifying film and digital media projects during the just-started fiscal year.

The Detroit Free Press reports the amount is based on $50 million approved for the incentives program for the fiscal year that started Monday, plus an $8 million rollover from fiscal 2012 that wasn't approved for projects.

Officials say they expect to use up all the incentives this fiscal year.

The Michigan Film Office says it's working hard to get the word out to the film industry about the incentives that are available this fiscal year.

Gov. Rick Snyder cut spending on the state's film incentive program last year as part of his plan to balance the budget. That cap was set at $25 million.
