GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - "Setup," starring Bruce Willis and 50 Cent, will begin production Nov. 28, a news conference announced Friday.
Willis will play a mob boss. Other main cast members include Randy Couture, Ambyr Childers, Jerry Ferrara and Will Yun Lee.
The film is about a diamond heist. One of the people involved dies, and is left for dead -- leading to a revenge plot.
The movie's director is planning a lot of action scenes for downtown Grand Rapids.
"We're going to shut down a major intersection downtown and wreck some cars and shoot some windows out and chase, and then a whole footchase happens across one block -- into a building, out the building, across another set of moving cars, into the back of the restaurant, out the front of that; so, it's pretty involved," director Mike Gunther said.
"Setup" marks the fourth film in Grand Rapids for 50 Cent and his producing partner, Randall Emmett. The pair has made three movies in the area: "Caught in the Crossfire," "Gun" and "Things Fall Apart."
Emmett also was involved with "Touchback," which filmed a portion of the movie at Coopersville High School and starred Kurt Russell.
"Setup" will be Emmett's biggest-budget movie so far, as it has around $20 million to work with.
"I think this movie is similar to 'The Gun' but bigger," Emmett said. "You'll see us a lot more over the city versus, other movies are a lot more intimate -- a lot more controlled. This movie will be a much bigger-looking film."
Producers will start looking for extras over the next few weeks.
