SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. (WOOD) - The Waterfront Film Festival is going on the road.
Organizers announced Tuesday that the festival will move to South Haven next June.
"We are absolutely thrilled," South Haven Mayor Robert Burr said in a Tuesday Waterfront release. "South Haven has a long tradition of celebrating the arts and it will be a pleasure to showcase our town to the thousands of visitors the Waterfront Film Festival draws to West Michigan."
The non-profit film festival has been in Saugatuck since it started 15 years ago.
The decision to move was made after months of meeting with several cities.
South Haven pledged "$50,000 in sponsorship and fundraising efforts, PR professionals with strong ties to the Chicago market, committed local business organizations and volunteer groups, shuttle service, office space, and many in-kind donations including some lodging for guests," the release said.
Grand Haven and Saint Joseph reportedly both submitted proposals. Organizers say they'll work with those cities to plan future events.
The 2013 event will run June 13 to June 16.
