GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - An open casting call for the movie "Touchback" drew hundreds of people Thursday and Friday.
About 500 people auditioned for paid and nonpaid positions as extras for the movie, filming in West Michigan.
Tryouts for football players will be held Wednesday, Aug. 4 and Thursday, Aug. 5, in Coopersville. More than 1,200 people already have registered for the tryout, including some former Detroit Lions.
If you want to try out for a role as a football player, you will need to register online before Monday, Aug. 2. No walk-ups will be allowed.
For people still interested in getting involved with the movie, late night football scenes will be shot Aug. 12, 13, 16 and 17 at the Coopersville High School football field. If you want to be an extra, you can email the Touchback extras coordinator for more information at touchbackextras@gmail.com.
The unpaid extras will fill the stands during the shoot. Filmmakers will be giving away prizes and other incentives to the extras.
