Movie filming in GR dir. by EGR native

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A film directed by East Grand Rapids native Brian Miller was shooting downtown Grand Rapids on Thursday night with the stunt men hard at work.

One shoot was on Ionia near Division, in an alleyway near an apartment complex. Stunt men were falling from balconies, onto vans and onto the street.

"House of the Rising Sun" stars Dave Batista, an actor and WWE wrestler. Crews have been shooting scenes mostly overnight at different downtown locations; the final shoots will take place this weekend.

"We got lucky," Miller said. "We were blessed with all the locations and the crew. I think 95 percent of our crew are local hires right here in Grand Rapids, and so far, it's just been tremendous. Everybody has been extremely useful and helpful."

"House of the Rising Sun" is about a bad cop who just got released from jail and wants revenge against the people who put him there. Miller's first film shot in West Michigan was "Caught in the Crossfire."
