GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Citing a need to "get organized and make it happen," organizers of the first Grand Rapids Film Festival announced the four-day event will take place at Celebration Cinema North.
Beginning August 26, films that aren't "filled with gratuitous sex or extreme profanity and violence" will be shown, and local filmmakers are encouraged to submit their efforts.
The deadline to submit "independent films that are message driven" is July 17.
Though this is the first year for the festival, organizers are already looking ahead to next year. In their press release, they said, "Our vision, however, is to have the venue downtown next year at different locations. The downtown experience will contribute to the atmosphere and continued momentum of a great film festival."
