GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Christian Slater has joined the cast of "Playback," a supernatural thriller currently filming in Grand Rapids.
Slater, 41, perhaps best known for his role in Heathers and on TVs "The West Wing," will play a "jaded, gritty cop who may not be who he appears." The story follows a group of high school students that unwittingly unlock an evil from their town's infamous past.
He joins a cast that already includes Ambyr Childers, Dorien Davies, Toby Hemingway, Jonathon Keltz and Jennifer Missoni. Produced by John M. Bennett and Lawrence Robbins, the film is written and directed by Michael A. Nickles.
More than 100 locals have been hired as extras, and 15 of the crew members are from West Michigan.
Filming continues through September.
