GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Voters approved a proposal to change the way the city defines the length of a work day that prevented the city from shortening employee work hours, and trimming the number of days City Hall is open.

City Manager Greg Sundstrom said the change would give the city "greater flexibility" in scheduling city employees and contractors.

With 97% of the votes counted, 67% of the voters OK'd the measure.
