Age: (optional): 55

Where Do you Live: Grand Rapids

Marital Status and Children: Married w/10 children and step children and 15 grand children

Questionnaire:
Why did you choose to run for this office?

Michigan needs strong solid leaders to drive it forward through these difficult times.  I have the correct stand on the issues, the experience and the personal convictions to help lead it to prosperity.

What is the most pressing problem facing the State of Michigan?

Though Michigan's economic problems are requiring immediate attention, there is an underlying problem that few legislators are willing to address.  Our State Constitution identifies the root problem in saying, "Religion, morality and knowledge, being necessary to good government and the happiness of mankind...".  No economic recovery policies will have lasting effects until we incorporate these three elements back into our culture.

Under the current administration in Michigan there have been both more revenues (taxes), and cuts in the budget.  Do you prefer a more balanced combination of the two to continue balancing the budget or would you prefer more taxes or more cuts?

Spending cuts, though sometimes painful, are an absolute at this point.  We cannot bear the burden of more taxation and expect to prosper.

What do you bring to this race, and potentially to the office you seek, that would make a difference for the people of Michigan?

I am bringing family values and integrity back to the 76th District.  The people of Grand Rapids have been betrayed and deceived, rightfully causing a distrust of the current Representative and government as a whole.  I will bring with me the experience of six years as a Republican Precinct Delegate, four years as Chairman of the US Taxpayers Party of Michigan and decades of knowledge gained through working in the private sector as both an employee and a small business owner.

Given the political polarization in Lansing and Washington, D.C., is there something you would do to try and change that culture or do you believe that highly partisan politics is simply "the way it is" in today's legislative environment.

The purpose of a political party, among other things, is to develop a platform which helps voters understand the positions of candidates which align with the party; a system subject to corruption due to the primary election process.  There are ways to correct some of the problems associated with it.  There will be several parties on the ballot in November.  There should be no preferential treatment of the parties whenever public funds are applied.  Straight party voting should also be eliminated in Michigan and the order of party listing on the ballot should be random.  Laws which distinguish between Major and Minor parties should be abolished, each ballot qualified party receiving equal treatment.  Due to cross over voting and other problem issues associated with the primary elections, state-wide primary races should be determined in caucus or convention.
