SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (AP) - A pancake house in suburban Detroit was among the places Rick Snyder has chosen to visit one day after the Republican gubernatorial candidate won the Michigan primary.
Snyder chatted Wednesday with diners in Southfield and was recognized by at least one diner who greeted him by saying, "Mr. Nerd, right?" referring to his "one tough nerd" ad campaign.
Snyder proposed three debates with Democratic candidate Virg Bernero, who called for eight. The two candidates will face off in November's general election.
Snyder was the top Republican vote-getter, receiving 36 percent of the vote and defeating U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra, Attorney General Mike Cox, Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard and state Sen. Tom George.
Bernero defeated state House Speaker Andy Dillon.
