MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) - Rick Snyder, the Republican candidate for governor, arrived in Muskegon Monday afternoon with the GOP nominees for statewide offices.
Arriving with Snyder on his campaign bus were his choice for Lt. Gov, current State Rep. Brian Calley, plus Attorney General nomineee Bill Schuette and Secretary of State nominee Ruth Johnson. Also traveling on the bus were Supreme Court Justice Robert Young and 2nd Congressional candidate Bill Huizenga.
Snyder, in the area to tour a spot where a new battery plant will soon be built, said it was important to have the entire Republican ticket together after the convention.
"Well, it's great coming out of the convention because it's one of those opportunities to show how we're working together and how we're going to win together across Michigan because it's about bringing people together," Snyder told 24 Hour News 8. "So the convention went well, we brought the party together and now we're traveling the state to do the same thing with everyone in Michigan."
Calley is "very confident" conservatives will be able to support the GOP ticket.
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Virg Bernero and running mate Brenda Lawrence were talking to small business owners in Flint and Bay City Monday. On Tuesday, the Democratic ticket will be in West Michigan.
24 Hour News 8 will have more information as the day progresses.
