LIVONIA, Mich. (WOOD) - GOP candidate for governor Mike Cox and his backers gathered in Livonia on Tuesday evening hoping for a win in the Michigan primary -- but it never happened for the state attorney general.
Cox ran against Ann Arbor businessman Rick Snyder, U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra, Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard and state Sen. Tom George for the Republican nomination. Snyder was called as the winner around 10 p.m.
On the Democratic side, Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero beat out House Speaker Andy Dillon for the nod. Bernero led the most recent EPIC-MRA poll conducted by WOOD TV8 and our media partners by eight points.
