GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A dispute over the accuracy of a television commercial in the race for the 3rd Congressional District continues with each side saying the other is wrong.
Pat Miles, the Democrat vying for the seat to replace Vern Ehlers, aired a commercial claiming his Republican opponent, Justin Amash, is part-owner of a manufacturing company in China.
The Amash camp strongly denies the charge.
"My family and I have no ownership in any factory in China and never have," Amash told 24 Hour News 8.
Miles held a news conference to counter that claim.
"We relied on information provided by the company itself," Miles said, information that apparentely came from a website. The company in question is Dynamic Source International.
A search turned up a website with the name of Dynamic Source International, and that search says Dynamic Source International is a manufacturer.
Other searches turned up multiple links with that same company name.
But Amash disputes that.
Amash said he does have partial ownership of a business in China, but he claims it is not a manufacturing company and none of the searches are for its website. In fact, Amash says, Dynamic Source International does not have a website. He maintains the Miles ad is false.
But, earlier this week, Miles weighed in on that.
"For them to claim I'm making these facts up is ridiculous and outrageous."
