DETROIT (AP) - Michigan House Speaker Andy Dillon says he is withholding his endorsement of Democratic gubernatorial candidate Virg Bernero until he reviews his plan, including a possible urban agenda.
Dillon told the crowd gathered for a unity breakfast at the Westin Book Cadillac in downtown Detroit that following the event he was leaving to join his family on vacation, but said "he can't wait to get on the team" when he returns.
Bernero said the party is "unified" and Dillon "certainly has earned a break."
The breakfast is designed to show the party is unified and moving forward despite an at times contentious primary.
Bernero defeated Dillon 59 percent to 41 percent in Tuesday's primary. Bernero faces Republican Rick Snyder in November.
