GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Democratic gubernatorial nominee Virg Bernero campaigned through West Michigan on Tuesday, and made a stop in Grand Rapids.
Bernero and his running mate, Southfield Mayor Brenda Lawrence, met with some people around 1 p.m. at Uncle Cheeta's Soup Shoppe, 1133 Wealthy SE in Grand Rapids.
Bernero spoke at the small cafe, packed with supporters, and stayed for about one hour. He and Lawrence were questioned by unemployed trade workers, union reps and retired teachers about a variety of topics -- everything from the economy to nuclear power.
The Lansing mayor said he would fight Washington when it comes to trade deals, fight Wall Street on getting a fair shake for Michigan and made it clear he's ready to fight Rick Snyder for the election, too.
GOP candidate Snyder was in Grand Rapids on Monday.
