GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Spectrum Health Medical Group has the only multidisciplinary clinic in West Michigan dedicated to diagnosing and treating patients with mild neurocognitive impairments, including memory disorders.

Treating memory loss is just as much about the family as it is the patient.  The Memory Disorders Clinic at Spectrum Health incorporates the combined skills and expertise of a neurologist, neuropsychologist, social worker and pharmacist.  This unique team provides comprehensive and compassionate services to help patients and their family members or caregivers.

Treatment includes:

  • An assessment.
  • Team meeting to discuss their initial assessment findings and develop a treatment plan.
  • A treatment plan appointment where the team will recommend treatment and answer any questions the patient or their family members have.
  • The team will also provide referrals to mental health resources for mood and behavior management.
  • Regular follow-up appointments to meet the ever-changing needs of the patient.

Dr. Timothy Thoits leads the team at the Memory Disorder Clinic and is holding an online chat focusing on Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia.  This is taking place online on Friday, January 18 from Noon-1pm.
