GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Three West Michigan residents are changed people following serious decisions to lose weight. Doctor Paul Kemmeter is the medical director of the Saint Mary's bariatric surgery program. His patients, Roderic and Amy Collins and Kelly Walker share their weight loss experiences. Kelly is a PCA who works with the patients post-surgery. Roderic and Amy act as their own support team. All challenge the idea that people who have bariatric surgery are cheating or that it's the easy way out. Surgery is just another tool to help patients lose weight and get healthy. There is still work to do to facilitate the weight loss. Patients must eat right, exercise, and take vitamins and supplements in order to be successful with the surgery. There are opportunities to find out if this is a good option for you or someone you know who is interested in weight loss options. Free seminars will be held at Grand Health Partners locations in April and May. Stop by and see if bariatric surgery is right for you.
