GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - You can celebrate the beginning of a brand new year with a giant celebration that gives back to West Michigan kids in a very big way. The Grand Slam Juice Ball is a birthday party for Chef Tommy Fitzgerald and a benefit for a successful charity, Kid's Food Basket. Rachael caught up with the woman who founded the organization when we honored the area's most "West" women. Mary K. Hoodhood started this venture to fight childhood hunger in our community, and Bridget Whitney Clark of Kids' Food Basket is the Executive Director. The program has expanded to the lakeshore and more help than ever is needed to bring much needed food to kids and families.
