KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - Just days from now is Christmas, a time for families to get together and keeping them all safe.

Tree Safety:
-Never use candles as decorations
-Water a cut tree everyday
-Dispose of tree before the needles dry out
Candle safety:
-Put out flame when you leave the room or go to bed
-Keep candles 12 inches from anything that can burn
-Opt to use flameless candles
-Don't use candles in a power outage
Pet safety:
-Secure chocolate & holiday plants that may be toxic
-Holly, mistletoe & lilies are dangerous for pets
-Keep left-overs away from pets
-Avoid noisy holiday poppers or horns around pets
