Stay Safe During the Holidays

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - Just days from now is Christmas, a time for families to get together and keeping them all safe.
Michael McLeieer from E.S.C.A.P.E., Inc. has some great information and fire safety reminders  for this holiday season.  Fire safety tools make great gift ideas, too!

Tree Safety:
-Never use candles as decorations
-Water a cut tree everyday
-Dispose of tree before the needles dry out
Candle safety:
-Put out flame when you leave the room or go to bed
-Keep candles 12 inches from anything that can burn
-Opt to use flameless candles
-Don't use candles in a power outage

Pet safety:
-Secure chocolate & holiday plants that may be toxic
-Holly, mistletoe & lilies are dangerous for pets
-Keep left-overs away from pets
-Avoid noisy holiday poppers or horns around pets
