WAYLAND, Mich. (WOOD) - Paws with a Cause , a national organization, has been around for 33 years and has 41 representatives providing services in 30 states! Assistance dogs can be trained to assist nearly anyone in need. We sent Joy to the national headquarters in Wayland to catch up with one of the dog trainers.
Dogs are paired with hearing impaired and wheelchair bound individuals, and even kids with autism. From opening a refrigerator door, to retrieving a telephone, to helping an individual transition from a wheelchair to a chair, these dogs are trained to do amazing things. Paws with a Cause trains dogs for clients all over the country! The need for the service dogs is evident, as the organization receives more than 2,000 Assistance Dog application requests annually.
Paws with a Cause would love for you to attend their "Paws for Lunch" event to take a tour and learn more about their program. Lunch is provided and it only takes one hour. All tours are held on Thursdays from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. from now until March 31, 2013.
Tour location: Paws With A Cause National Headquarters 4646 South Division Wayland MI 49348
