It's nice to know there's help available for those with a long "honey-do" list.  Home Repair Services is a great place to start for lessons in how-to and help with affording new or rebuilt cabinets for your home.  The programs they have that most directly relate to helping people deal with cold weather are limited to registered Home Repair Services clients and the income guidelines are required for some of them.  The  Remodeling Together program helps homeowners complete kitchen renovations. They can guide you through the process, teach you how to do the handy work and provide new or rebuilt beautiful cabinets, counter tops and all the trimmings for your kitchen.    The following are the Remodeling Together income guidelines:

Home Repair Services also holds weekly Fix-it School classes that cover the main skills that homeowners need to take on do-it-yourself projects. Plumbing, electrical, drywall repair, ceramic tile installation and cabinet installation classes provide a great foundation. They also devote one class in the series to planning a successful remodeling project.  The classes are free of charge and they are open to everyone, regardless of income or skill level, and they are taught in English and Spanish.
