GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - No other time of the year shines quite the same way as the holidays do.  Lights are such a big part of the  season from our Christmas trees inside to the whole house on the outside. Your light strands from years gone by can add to your energy bill, but there are now much more efficient options for you to consider. Roger Morgenstern from Consumers Energy shows us the LED difference and places where you can get a discount on the lights you want for your home decor.  Home Depot and the Grand Rapids area Costco locations have some supplies, but the LED holiday lights are in big demand.  The Consumers Energy's Energy Efficiency program is offering special pricing of $3 off a variety of LED holiday lights while they last! It costs about seven cents to keep three hundred icicle lights on for four hours and about five cents to light a Christmas tree with two hundred miniature lights four hours. At twelve cents per night, a month of holiday cheer with LED indoor and outdoor decorations costs about $3.60. LED lights are growing in popularity and use nearly 90% less electricity than standard light strings.
