Help children get new school shoes

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Thousands of kids in the Grand Rapids area will go back to school wearing a new pair of shoes, thanks to the generosity of people in West Michigan.  But more help is needed and there's still time to help.  We're teaming with In The Image to get more donations and volunteers for their Shoes Help Our Elementary Students program.  In the Image's mission is to link gently used clothing, housewares, furniture and appliances with families in need, in a manner that enhances dignity, embraces choice, encourages participation and builds a community of diversity.  The S.H.O.E.S. program targets 25 area schools where a large number of students qualify for the free or reduced price lunch program.  Your $10 donation can get a child a new pair of shoes for school.  Volunteers are also needed to help fit the kids for the pair that works best for them.
