GRANDVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) - Grandville Optical has been serving customers in West Michigan for over 25 years and is the only optician owned optical facility in the area. The practice offers eye exams, contact lenses and glasses and specializes in filling eyeglass prescriptions and frame repairs.
Over the years, technology has made some pretty big advances in the optical business, and John Schlafley from Grandville Optical stopped by the eightWest studios to talk about progressive bifocal lenses and frames.
Progressive Bifocal Lens
Digital technology has enabled people to see sharper and clearer than ever before. Progressive bifocal lens designs have gained the biggest advancements. Progressive bifocal lenses are kind of like clothing in that one color and one size doesn't fit all. These lenses come in 2 or 3 different colors and range from small to medium to large. It all depends on what your up close vision requirements are. Some designs are better for distance, some better for intermediate and some better for up close. With the digital design there are lots of wow factors in these lenses.
Trends in Frames
Frames are what everybody focuses on because that's what everyone sees. Lots of people tend to gravitate towards what they are used to, but it's not always what is the most flattering for your face. The staff at Grandville Optical can assist customers with what looks best.
The styles that are currently on trend are those with larger lenses. In the Midwest, plastic frames are still popular, but style setters in Europe are going back to metal.
Grandville Optical is currently offering new customers the chance to win a free pair of digital lenses. To enter, visit their website or their Facebook page for more details.
