Tips for Elliptical Training

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - With the new year, Terri has really made a commitment to become more physically fit and is working out several times a week for the first time in decades.  Along with the benefits, however, she's developed a problem with one of her feet. Today, she turns to one of the podiatrists at the Spectrum Health Medical Group for help.  We met up at Dr. Brian Buchanan at the David D. Hunting YMCA in Grand Rapids.  He suggests that Terri alternate her  work-outs mixing running and swimming in with the elliptical, and he warns that it's not always a good idea to work through the pain, especially when you have numbness developing in an area like the foot.  Listen to your body and check in with your physician for guidance.
