GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Soon all eyes will be on the Summer Olympics in London where athletes who've worked so hard for so many years will compete at the highest level.  But everyday athletes need attention, too.  Doctor Matthew Axtman of Sports Medicine at Spectrum Health Medical Group describes who an athlete is, what Sports Medicine is all about, and offers an opportunity for you to ask more questions. Basically, anybody who is active on a daily could be considered an athlete.   Sports Medicine is a multi-faceted group of practitioners who evaluate and treat athlete's injuries and problems and help expedite their return to play and equip them to prevent further injuries in the future.  You can join in a free Doctor Dialogue event called Strong Knees, Strong Game on Tuesday, August 21 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Prince Conference Center at Calvin College.  Register online now at shmg.org/doctordialogue or by calling 616.267.2626, option 4.
