Managing COPD at home

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - November is National COPD Awareness Month, a time to share new information about that disease and some new products that are available to assist people who rely on oxygen. COPD, or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, is carried by an estimated 24 million people in the United States, but according to the Center for Disease Control, roughly only half of them are diagnosed. COPD is the fourth leading cause of death in the United States. Rob Tuck and Mary Marchese of Wright and Filippis explain BreathWright, a program designed for patients that need in-home oxygen. The program works closely with each patient's physician to monitor the patient's progress and usage of their equipment, in addition to perks such as access to products like the lightweight oxygen concentrators Oxus and Solo2, and even a travel department that works to coordinate all of the patient's needs.
