GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Hundred of hungry people receive meals every day at God's Kitchen in Grand Rapids and at their homes through Meals on Wheels, both programs of Catholic Charities West Michigan. Both programs benefit each year from the annual Soup's On For All event and it wouldn't be possible without volunteer bowl painters who contribute to the cause. One of the many groups stepping up to get creative and give back for the 2013 event is a talented crew from Central Woodlands school in the Forest Hills district. Our eightWest Grandma On The Go caught up with Mrs. Tolly's fifth and sixth graders who gathered to paint bowls with special people in their lives in an effort to give a gift to God's Kitchen. The students in Mrs. Tolly's class at Forest Hills Central Woodlands had a blast with their special guests ....and they made some beautiful bowls to donate to God's Kitchen! You can pick one up for yourself at the Soup's On for All event on January 28 at the B.O.B. in downtown Grand Rapids with homemade soups, desserts and breads, plus lots of music and beautiful bowls. You can buy tickets in advance for $50 or at the door for $60. If you want to have a bowl painting party of your own to help, give God's Kitchen a call at 616-454-4110. You can also try a recipe from the Soups on For All cookbook when you link to Joy's Food Joy blog on our website. Put one in the crock this weekend, just right for the chilly weekend ahead!
