Grand Rapids Community Foundation

Connecting with Community Partner

GIFTS, GROWTH, GRANTS and LEADERSHIP - Grand Rapids Community Foundation receives charitable gifts from people in the community, these gifts come from people of all incomes and gifts can be large or small.

We grow the gifts in the market as part of our $250 million endowment. With that growth we make grants, about $10 million a year and we support education, the environment, neighborhoods, the arts and social enrichment and other local causes.

Leadership wraps around it all. When we see a knotty community issues—homelessness or land use—for instance, we lead by gathering the best minds in the community, analyzing the situation and looking for effective solutions; knowing that creating change may take years. We are financially committed to these leadership issues.

In 2012 the Community Foundation will be 90 years old and we’re looking forward to being 100. As we move to this centennial decade we can’t help but think about all the things that have happened in the last century. About the ways people have engaged with the community foundation to do more for the community they love. We can’t help but think about the very nature of this community…

Grand Rapids is a can do, will do place.

There are so many visions, and so much talent in this community.

If there is anything worth doing, anything that needs to be done, any breathtaking opportunity, we know that it can happen here.
