GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Grand Rapids Community College honored Martin Luther King, Jr. Monday at its "Uniting the past with the present" program, featuring hundreds of students from around Kent County.

The annual march through the city was canceled due to weather, but the celebration continued indoors with music, songs and speakers.

Among the performers were the GRCC Jazz Orchestra, the Northview High School Varsity Voices, Vocal Music by an East Grand Rapids 5th grade class, and the GRCC choir.

There was also a scholarship presentation to Daijon Miller of Riverside Middle School and a Children's Food Basket Presentation.

Judge Glenda Hatchett is scheduled to speak at the GRCC Field House at 6:30 p.m. Monday. She will also speak at Sneden Auditorium on Davenport University's Lettinga Campus Tuesday at 10 a.m.
