Grand Rapids, MI (WOODTV) -
Student and faculty volunteers from Davenport and other area colleges have come together to provide free income tax preparation for low and middle range income tax filers. That means if your total family income is less that $55,000 you qualify for this free service that is offered around West Michigan
The volunteers are working in conjunction with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. It is a cooperative effort with the Internal Revenue Service.
The student volunteers are trained by the IRS and gain real world work experience. All tax preparation goes through two rounds of oversight before being filed.
