GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Stepping Stones helps older adults come back to life, through rehabiliation therapy after an illness stopped them from doing the activities they previously enjoyed.

Stepping Stones is a finalist for the first Connecting with Community Award. The program brings together agencies that serve seniors, Grand Valley State University students, the Grand Rapids YMCA, the city of Wyoming and even the Kent County voters who approved the senior millage that funds it.

Programs include aquatic therapy, home visits for exercise, and others. People who have gone through the program are once again living independently.
