GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - About 2,000 students, faculty and community members marched from the Ford Fieldhouse at GRCC throught streets of downtown Monday as part of the college's 26th annual Community Peace March for Dr. Martin Luther King.

GRCC students will give various performances in the fieldhouse throughout the afternoon.

Several other schools around the West Michigan area also hosted events in honor of Dr. King.

Grand Valley State University has a silent March beginning at 1:45pm at the Allendale campus, followed by a King program featuring author and entrepreneur Dr. Randal D. Pinkett. He is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of BCT Partners and the Voices of GVSU.

Pinkett was be the keynote speaker at 6:30 p.m. at the Ford Fieldhouse for a celebration program Monday night.
