Grand Rapids - Help is available to get your earned income tax credit and your tax returns prepared

The Kent County Tax Credit Coalition helped tax payers get back 6-point-7-million dollars in tax credits. Now is the time for low-to-moderate income families to reach out for help again.

IRS trained volunteers are ready to help you fill out your returns and get the credits you have coming to you.

This year, Michigan is offering credits for the first time and Federal credits may be available to you as well. Both can add up to cash coming back to your pockets.

There are many tax preparation sites all over Kent County where you can go for help, including two new ones. Volunteers will be at Flat River Outreach Ministries on Fulton in Lowell and at the North Kent Service Center on Northland Drive in Rockford.

Call 2-1-1 to find a location near you, then contact that site to make an appointment to prepare your returns with a trained volunteer.

Some other counties are offering tax preparation services, too. Contact you local United Way for your connection.
