GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - People who can tickle the ivories will especially enjoy one of this year's ArtPrize exhibits.
A London artist is bringing his work to the streets of Grand Rapids for the fall competition. Luke Jerram unveiled his idea near Rosa Parks Circle Tuesday morning.
His work, titled "Play Me, I'm Yours," will allow passersby to sit down and play 20 pianos located throughout the downtown area. His main venue during the event will be at the Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts.
Jerram has placed pianos in cities throughout the world including Sydney, Australia and São Paulo, Brazil, and will be in New York City during the end of June and beginning of July.
ArtPrize artists can register until June 17. The event will take place September 22 to October 10, with $449,000 in prizes, and $250,000 for first place.
