GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Continuing to search for ways to make itself economically sustainable, ArtPrize announced a new membership program that will provide discounts on ArtPrize merchandise and include some free items.
Memberships begin at $20 for students and can cost $85 for a family. But members will get 10% off merchandise.
Daryn Kuipers, the interim director of ArtPrize, said the plan has two purposes: to raise some funds for the organization and to make people feel more involved in the event.
"We allow people to activate and be heard on the vote, but we have never had a chance for them to connect with the organization before," he told 24 Hour News 8. "This is our first real attempt at that and we are doing more year-round."
Additionally, an anonymous donor will match the membership dollars.
