GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Five juried awards and two special recognition awards were handed out during the ArtPrize finale at DeVos Hall.

The Ox-Bow Award provides one artist with a five-week residency at the Ox-Bow School of Art in Saugatuck. The selected artist will have their residency fees waived and will be provided room, full board and studio space. This year, the award was given to Everett Beidler for "Progressive Movement(s)".

For the third straight year, the Sustainability Award rewards a single artist whose work best reflects the importance of sustainable practices and the triple-bottom line. This year's Sustainability Award was given to Laura Milkins of Tuscon, AZ for "Walking Home: Stories from the Desert to the Great Lakes."

The juried awards in the following five categories were given to:

Mimi Kato from St. Louis, Missouri for "One Ordinary Day of an Ordinary Town" -- Two-dimensional work

Michele Brody of New York for "Nature Preserve" -- Three-dimensional work

Caroline Young of Chicago, Ill. for "Remember: Replay: Repeat" -- Time-based work (Performance/Film/Video)

Catie Newell of Detroit for "Salvaged Landscape" -- Best use of urban space

Shinji Turner-Yamamoto for "Disappearances and Eternal Journey" -- International Work

These awards are above and beyond the $449,000 awarded to the Top 10 artists based on public voting.

ArtPrize Executive Director Catherine Creamer announced that the first-ever Award for an Outstanding Venue is Site Lab by the University of Michigan School of Art and Design.

Reed Kroloff, a juror, said that the Site Lab was outstanding and "convincing" in the way that the it used the building to enhance the art and the art to enhance the building.

He called the art inside "visually striking."
