GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - The premise for ArtPrize 2010 will remain intact and there will be only slight changes to the event, Rick DeVos and his team announced at a Monday news conference.
Organizers are breaking up the registration timeline for venues and also adding exhibition centers that will serve as destination points for visitors to launch into different neighborhoods within the city.
The 2010 exhibition centers are: the Grand Rapids Art Museum, the Grand Rapids Urban Institute for the Arts, the Diocese of Grand Rapids' Cathedral Square, the Grand Rapids Public Museum, the Grand Rapids Women's City Club and the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park.
Organizers also will break up the registration time for venues, which will be split into three separate time periods beginning March 15 and ending at 5 p.m. April 15.
The three-square-mile district drawn last year will remain the same.
In 2009, ArtPrize was estimated to have brought in more than 200,000 visitors to West Michigan, including more than 1,200 artists from 12 states and 14 countries.

Entries in the Grand River:
The city will select up to three pieces that will sit between Fulton and Pearl streets in the Grand. The three entries will be picked between April 1 and April 7, when DNR permits must be filed.
The cost is $500 to file, which will be split among the selected artists, said Jose Reyna of the city.
According to ArtPrize.org, proposals must include:
The city will convene two panels to review the proposals. The first panel will review the aesthetic merits of the work, and the second will review the engineering and technical merits. The artists that are chosen will be instructed by the city to develop and pay for a permit application to be filed with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment.
Submit all proposals by e-mail to Reyna.
