ArtPrize finale to air on WOOD TV8

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - The finale of ArtPrize 2012 will be held at the old Grand Rapids Press building and will air exclusively on WOOD TV8.

The 4th Annual ArtPrize Awards, at which the winner of the world's largest art competition will be announced, beings at 8 p.m. on Oct. 5.

ArtPrize announced Tuesday that the finale will be held in the loading dock of the former Grand Rapids Press headquarters on Michigan Street between Monroe and Ottawa avenues.

During the event, the public vote winner will be announced, as well as the overall juried winner and the winner of each juried category. In all, $560,000 in total prize money -- $360,000 awarded by public vote, $200,000 awarded by a select group of art experts -- will be awarded that night.

The Grand Rapids Ballet Company will also perform David Parsons' "The Envelope" during the event.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the ArtPrize HUB on Sheldon Boulevard, ArtPrize said. Proceeds will go toward making ArtPrize self-sustainable.

The event will also be broadcast live at Rosa Parks Circle. WOOD TV8 will also air the event during a 1-hour special starting at 8 p.m.
