Co-hosting eightWest is a dream “job” come true for Rachael Ruiz. A former news reporter and anchor for the past 15 years Ruiz has become a familiar face in the West Michigan community.

 

“I have and always will love the news. I’ve always thought it would take something pretty special to make me do something different… becoming a host of eightWest is that something,” said Ruiz.

As a part of eightWest Ruiz will continue her passion for storytelling but now focusing on hip, modern topics that have the community buzzing.

“Grand Rapids is a hidden gem. I love the city. I especially love the energy. It invigorates the soul,” said Ruiz. “I find new treasures all the time - whether it’s a park or a quaint store. I am so excited to share that information with the viewers of eightWest.”

Ruiz is a native of West Michigan. She was born in Holland, grew up in Grand Rapids and graduated from East Kentwood High School. Ruiz, a new mother, lives an urban lifestyle with her husband in downtown Grand Rapids where she is busy mastering the fine art of multi-tasking. She is excited to share her unique perspectives on motherhood, career, family and downtown living with the eightWest audience.
