Larry anchors and produces the weekend evening newscasts, co-anchors Football Frenzy on Friday nights during the high school season, as well as being a sports reporter and photographer.
Larry came to West Michigan in January 1996, and joined WOOD TV8 in September 2000 after being a sports anchor at WZZM in Grand Rapids. Hired to be the host of Positively Michigan, he returned to sports full-time in March 2003, and co-anchored 24 Hour News 8's Sports Overtime. He returned to the news department in August 2006.
Since 2000, Larry has been the radio network color commentator/analyst for the Grand Rapids Griffins, the top minor league affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings. He's also been a commentator for Griffins television broadcasts.
A Central Michigan University graduate, Larry is a seven-time winner of the Associated Press "Best Sportscast" award, and a two-time winner for the Associated Press "Best Sports Feature" award. He's shared the AP "Best Live Sports Radio" award with Griffins play-by-play announcer Bob Kaser.
A native Detroiter, Larry worked in Springfield, Missouri as a sports anchor/reporter, in Cadillac/Traverse City as a sports director/anchor and as a news director in Alpena.
He lives in the Grand Rapids area with his wife and two daughters.
