Chief Meteorologist Bill Steffen has been a familiar and friendly face in West Michigan since 1975.

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, the Chicago native joined WZZM as a meteorologist. He became Chief Meteorologist in 1985, then joined 24 Hour News 8 in 2001.

He's been honored with numerous broadcast awards, and he is extremely active in the West Michigan community.

He's worked with the Regional Math Counts Competition, the Science Olympiad, chairman of the Public Museum's 4th of July gala, honorary chair of fundraising for the Grand Rapids Planetarium and many other activities. He's been the Chairman of the Red Cross Heroes Campaign, and is also on the Marketing Committee for the Gerald R. Ford Boy Scout Council and the Advisory Board for Youth for Christ.

Bill provides the weather on 24 Hour News 8 at 5pm, 24 Hour News 8 at 10pm on WXSP, and updates on our sister station, WOTV 4. He also writes Bill's Blog for woodtv.com

Bill and his wife live in the Grand Rapids area.
