24 Hour News 8 Reporter Dani Carlson

Chicago-area native Dani Carlson joined 24 Hour News 8 in December 2009. Immediately before moving to West Michigan, she was an adjunct professor of journalism at Northwestern University, where she previously taught undergraduate and graduate classes.
Dani spent several years at television stations in Fresno, California and Lexington, Kentucky, and was a regular contributor for a morning show on eTV in Johannesburg, South Africa.
She has been recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists with Mark of Excellence awards for covering a deadly tunnel collapse in Randburg, South Africa and a hostage situation in the United States. She was also a contributor for an award winning documentary about Chicago's Cabrini Green neighborhood.
Dani lives in Grand Rapids with her dog, Dexter, and likes reading and watching DVDs in her spare time.
