Grand Rapids, MI (WOODTV) - European cycling event is heading for West Michigan. Huntington is sponsoring the first annual MSU College of Medicine Gran Fondo.
This cycling event is Saturday June 29th and is set in West Michigan. Starting at the B.O.B. in Grand Rapids it features a scenic rout to the lake shore and back.
There will be a 12 mile, 40 mile and 80 mile loop for riders of all different skill levels. Along the route will be Superfood stops of local products hosted by Gilmore Catering.
The Gran Fondo is a benefit for skin cancer research at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. The funds will help pilot new studies, investigate for next step research and enable the continuation of other studies.
The term Gran Fondo means "big ride" in italian and is meant to be a large participation event versus a race.

There will also be a Gears for Beers Microbrew & Music Festival after the race that will be hosted by The B.O.B. This includes a Gran Buffet with Michigan products with wine and beer.
