Grand Rapids, MI (WOOD) - Olivia's Gift is a "first of its kind" housing unit for young adults with severe disabilities. Through collaborative efforts these individuals are given the chance to live in apartment style housing. The home away from home environment gives them an independent life while still offering their program based care.
Olivia's Gift Living Center Apartment complex is a finalist for WOOD TV8's Connecting with Community Award. Olivia's Gift is a 9,000 square foot building that includes six individual apartments, a hydrotherapy facility, a state of the art sensory room and specialized therapy equipment such as the onsite MOVE (Mobility Opportunities via Experience) Program.
Without the contributions and grants from HUD Kent County Community Development, Federal Home Loan Bank, Macatawa Bank, Mary Free Bed, Perrigo Inc., Dan Blauw and other Companies and local donors, Olivia's Gift would not be possible.
Olivia's Gift opened in 2012 and is hoped to be the first of many living centers like it.
