PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A special portion of the new Art Van Sports Complex is set to open in about a month.
The first pitch will be thrown at the Nate Hurwitz Miracle League Field on Sept. 21.
The Miracle League Field is a part of the 12-field championship baseball and softball complex going in now in Plainfield Township.
The field is custom-designed to accommodate players with wheelchairs, walkers and other devices.
It's opening earlier than the rest of the complex because it has a rubberized turf field instead of grass.
Player registration is open now online. The complex is also looking for volunteers.
The rest of the Art Van Sports Complex is expected to open in September 2014.
Fred Glespie was found not guilty in the death of three children who died in an apartment fire.
Police are looking for the suspect in an armed robbery that occurred at a gas station in Plainwell Thursday night.
The rink will be open that day from 3-9 p.m.
