Battle Creek, MI (WOODTV) - In Battle Creek, local farmers, business owners and community members met to discuss how healthy eating and race are connected. The workshop, hosted by Good Food Battle Creek, focused on educating citizens, supporting local farmers and promoting access to healthy food all with race issues in mind.
These significant barriers exist for communities of color in Battle Creek, as well as all of West Michigan, to have ready access to fresh affordable food.
The workshop titled, "How Institutional Racism Hurts Our Food System" helps participants understand how racial inequities hurt the entire Battle Creek Food System and how to address it.
