GRANDS RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Ripley's Believe It or Not has come back to ArtPrize.
Ripley's sends someone to the world's largest art competition every year to shop for unique pieces for its attractions.
Edward Meyer, Ripley's vice president of exhibits and archives, says he comes to ArtPrize because it's the single best art festival in the country to supply Ripley's with art for its museums. He called it one-stop shopping.
"We're looking for the art that's made from unusual mediums, first and foremost," Meyer explained. "We're not interested in oil paintings. We'll look at them while we're here, but we don't come to buy those. We come to find things made from things that you don't expect art to be made from."
Meyer says that so far, he's interested in about 14 pieces.
