GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - DeVos Place has rolled out a new mobile app just in time to help ArtPrize-goers find their away around.
The popular downtown venue on Monroe Avenue NW north of Lyon Street is hosting 82 artists this year. The DeVos Place app will help people navigate the large convention center by positioning the user inside the building via already-wired and active antennas.
Much like Google Maps, users can ask for directions between points and the app will generate a route.
Once at their destination, the app also provides information about various works of art.
"If you click on an artist, it will take you to their profile page on the ArtPrize website and mobile app. So you can actually vote through this mobile app because it will take you to the ArtPrize website," DeVos Place Assistant General Management Eddie Tadlock.
ArtPrize is just the beginning for the app. As groups book their conventions at DeVos place, they will be able to share information about the event with participants. Events merge into mobile devices' calendar.
The app also provides suggestions about places to eat.
