GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - ArtPrize 2013 is officially underway, as voting began at noon Wednesday.
The world's largest art competition features 1,534 entries from 45 states and 47 countries at 169 venues in downtown Grand Rapids, giving out a total of $560,000 in cash prizes.
The top $200,000 award goes to the piece that garners the most votes cast online from ArtPrize-goers.
The second-place public vote winner gets $75,000; third place gets $50,000; and fourth- through 10th-place winners get $5,000 each.
There is also a $100,000 juried grand prize, as well as $20,000 juried awards for 2D, 3D, time-based, urban space and venue.
First-round voting opens Wednesday and runs through Sept. 28, narrowing the competition down to the Top 10. Round-two voting runs Sept. 29 through Oct. 3.
Winners will be announced Oct. 4.
ArtPrize ends Oct. 6.
